Science Technician

ROLE SUMMARY:

Reddam House Berkshire is a flagship UK school of the successful Reddam House International group. Set in 125 acres of wood and parkland, housed in a magnificent mansion building.

We have 800+ students between the ages of 3 months and 18 years are registered here (day students and boarders from age 11+). Children are recognised as individuals with unique skills to celebrate and given tailored support and guidance at each stage of their school career. Our structure of Early Learning School, Junior School, Middle School and Senior School means that every year group works with professionals who specialize and enjoy working with the students in their care.

The unique Reddam House philosophy and our formula for success are based to a large degree on the quality and depth of our curricula, cultural and sporting activities and especially our teaching staff, fully recognising that what goes on in the classroom between teacher and student strongly influences the success of the school

We currently have a vacancy for a Science Technician working 25 hours per week during term time (including attendance at Open days and INSETs) to start on Monday 3rd November 2025.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reporting to the Senior Science Technician (and the Head of Science as Line Manager), the post holder will provide support to the science department including assisting in experiment set-up, ensuring suitable laboratory equipment is available, adequately maintained and that it is appropriately used, also to ensure that good laboratory practices are employed by all users promoting a safe working environment.

General responsibilities include: maintaining a productive working environment; liaising with both pupils and teachers in preparation of practical experiments; stock taking; proper disposal of chemicals; retrieving and putting away equipment and any ad-hoc tasks delegated to you by the Senior Science Technician or Teachers.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

To include but not limited to:

• Demonstrable interest in Science
• Education at GCSE and A level in a science based subject
• Familiarity with practical science
• Proven experience in working in a school environment, desirable
• Ability to engage and motivate young people
