ROLE SUMMARY:

Reddam House Berkshire is a co-educational, independent school, housed in a Victorian mansion and set in 125 acres of wood and parkland.

 

We have 800+ students between the ages of 3 months and 18 years are registered here (day students and boarders from age 11+). Children are recognised as individuals with unique skills to celebrate and given tailored support and guidance at Teaching Role each stage of their school career. Our structure of Early Learning School, Junior School, Middle School and Senior School means that every year group works with professionals who specialize and enjoy working with the students in their care.

 

Reddam House, Berkshire are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, highly motivated and dedicated SENDCo and Lead of Academic Support for Junior School to all students and encourage excellence across the three pillars. This role starts September 2026.

 

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that the school carries out its statutory responsibilities regarding pupils with SEND, including reporting information for the census, inspections and ensuring the SEND Register is up-to-date and communicated to the relevant parents. This role requires the SENCo to teach 50% of their timetable within the Academic Support Department. We require the successful candidate to have a minimum of a Level 5 in Supporting Students with Specific Learning Difficulties or a NASENCo award (or equivalent).

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support all staff in understanding the needs of SEND pupils; those requiring additional support/those requiring extension to achieve their potential and those who require further pastoral support through monitoring and training, for example, at INSETs. Provide bespoke advice on how to support individual students with SEN.
  • Through discussions with class teachers and the Deputy Head, to support with interventions for groups of students.
  • Provide a process and deliver support for students suspected of showing signs of difficulties of an SEN nature or supporting students with gaps in their education.
  • Assist parents in understanding the needs of their children and signpost/support for diagnosis, as required, whether privately or via the NHS route
  • Liaise with external professionals regarding either diagnostic pathways, or additional
  • Manage any SEN budget effectively and efficiently for Junior School.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent certification.
  • National Professional Qualification for Special Educational Needs 
  • Significant experience working with students with SEN in an educational setting.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate others.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop effective relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
