The Athletic & Activities Director position is responsible for the development and implementation of the Physical Education and Sports programs at the European International School. Consistent with EIS school policies and values, the Athletic & Activities Director will manage the EIS Sport Department and Co-Curricular program, overseeing the development of the Sports programs, House system, After-school Activity (ASA), and Extra-curricular Activity (ECA) programs. The position holder will have a commitment to collaborative planning, community engagement, and will be responsible for implementing a holistic approach to physical activity and sport that reflects EIS School Values and the IB Learner Profile.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead and enhance the whole-school Sport and Co-Curricular program.
  • Oversee all Sports Department operations, logistics, safety, and parent communication.
  • Manage EIS After-school Activity (ASA), Extra-curricular Activity (ECA) and House programs and maintain department policies.
  • Build partnerships to expand extra-curricular offerings.
  • Manage annual budgets and support coaching and team activities.
  • Promote student leadership through councils and student-led initiatives.
  • Ensure alignment with IB philosophy and EIS values.
  • Manage EIS Orcas social media and support major sports events.
  • Collaborate with staff and SLT on new initiatives and calendar planning.
  • Represent EIS at athletic conferences.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education/ Sports Management and teaching certification
  • At least 3-5 years’ experience
  • Successful experience in teaching IBMYP, IBDP is preferred
  • Experience in an international school environment is preferred
  • Proven experience leading school athletic or co-curricular programs.
  • Coaching experience and relevant sport certifications are an advantage.
  • Strong leadership, organizational and event-management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities in both spoken and written English
  • Knowledge of child safeguarding, risk management and student well-being practices.
  • Ability to manage budgets, schedules, logistics and departmental operations.
  • Confident in using IT systems for planning and communication.
  • Collaborative, professional and committed to student development.
  • Flexible to support after-school, weekend and off-campus activities when required.
