ROLE SUMMARY

Centro Educacional Leonardo da Vinci is a private school located in Vitoria, Espirito Santo, a mid-sized coastal city a few hours north of Rio de Janeiro. Following a strong tradition of excellence in foreign language education, we offer a bilingual preschool/kindergarten/first-grade program inaugurated in February 2006. We are seeking a native English-speaking teacher with substantial experience and a university-level degree in the field of education as well as the initiative to contribute to the position. 

 

This position is for 2027 and the salary will be based on the institution's salary scale, which is highly competitive in the Brazilian market—right now at R$11.863,99 (Brazilian currency) after taxes. Review of applications begins immediately and will continue until the position is filled. 

 

This teacher will work with an aide from 7:15 am to 5:15 pm, from Monday to Friday, with 2 different groups of 16 to 24 children each. Friday afternoons are usually free, except for meetings or parent/teacher conferences scheduled throughout the year. It is important that the teacher gradually starts to learn Portuguese to understand the children's needs, but they are to speak exclusively in English in the classroom. Working with us in this position will allow you to: Work with a wide range of materials, from fine children’s literature books to flash cards, to keep lessons fun; Enjoy program perks, including lunch and snacks throughout the day; Explore Brazil and see beautiful places in your free time and holiday breaks. Gain valuable teaching experience at a multi-awarded school. Learn some Portuguese through daily interaction with local teachers and students, as well as with local people

RESPONSABILITIES

What you will do:

  • Plan your classes and teach them based on the bilingual program's curriculum;
  • Mediate the relationships between students, families and the school;
  • Prepare student assessments/tests and communicate their results;
  • Participate in school meetings and events.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Two years of proven experience with a bachelors degree or one year of proven experience with a Master degree;
  • 2 letters of reccomendation.
