ROLE SUMMARY:
Vilamoura International School (CIV) is seeking a highly qualified, multilingual SEN / Inclusion Teacher. The successful candidate will support students with diverse learning needs across both our Portuguese National Curriculum and Cambridge International Curriculum pathways (from Early Years to Secondary). You will work closely with a global community of educators to champion an inclusive, high-achieving environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Dual-Curriculum Support: Adapt learning materials for both the Portuguese National system and Cambridge (IGCSE, AS/A Level) frameworks.
- IEP Development: Design, execute, and monitor Individual Education Plans (IEPs) tailored to multicultural student backgrounds.
- In-Class & Resource Support: Provide targeted 1:1, small group, or co-teaching interventions within mainstream classrooms.
- Exam Access Arrangements: Coordinate with the examinations officer to secure testing accommodations for Cambridge Checkpoint and IGCSE exams.
- Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Partner with parents, educational psychologists, language therapists, and the CIV leadership team.
- Data-Driven Progress: Assess student capabilities regularly to compile progress reports for internal staff and families.
- Holistic Growth: Foster emotional intelligence, social skills, and academic confidence aligned with CIV’s humanistic values.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education or Learning Support.
- Certification: Valid teaching registration recognized in Portugal or international equivalents (e.g., QTS).
- Languages: Native-level or professional fluency in English and Portuguese is highly preferred due to our bilingual community.
- Experience: Proven background managing SEN (ADHD, Dyslexia, ASD) in international or private school settings.
- Framework Knowledge: Deep familiarity with UK SEN Codes of Practice or Portuguese Decreto-Lei n.º 54/2018 (Inclusion law).
- Cultural Competence: Experience working with expat families and students from diverse cultural backgrounds.
