ROLE SUMMARY:

CIV is seeking a highly motivated, qualified, and experienced IBDP Physics Teacher to join our secondary school science department. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality, engaging Physics lessons that foster scientific inquiry, critical thinking, and academic excellence. You will prepare students for external examinations within the International Curriculum, primarily focusing on the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IB DP).

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Curriculum & Lesson Delivery: Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality Physics lessons aligned with the IB Diploma Programme (Higher Level and Standard Level) requirements.
Inquiry-Based Learning: Foster a classroom environment rooted in scientific inquiry, encouraging students to develop experimental skills and deep conceptual understanding.
Assessment & Examinations: Assess, record, and report on student progress. Formally prepare students for internal assessments (IAs), Extended Essays (EE), and final IB DP external examinations.
Laboratory Safety: Supervise practical laboratory work, ensuring all health and safety protocols are strictly followed by students during experiments.
Pastoral Care: Actively contribute to the school's pastoral system, potentially taking on the role of a Homeroom Teacher to support student well-being and academic tracking.
Collaboration: Work collaboratively with the Science Department and the wider school community to develop interdisciplinary projects, extracurricular activities, and school events.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Engineering, or a closely related scientific discipline.
Teaching Qualification: A recognized teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, QTS, or equivalent state teaching license).
IB Experience: Proven experience teaching IBDP Physics (HL/SL) is highly desirable; strong experience in equivalent international frameworks (e.g., Cambridge A-Levels) will also be considered.
Language Proficiency: Native or near-native fluency in English.
Right to Work: EU citizenship or a valid legal visa/residence permit allowing employment in Portugal.
