ROLE SUMMARY:
Hilden Grange School is a co-educational preparatory day school for children aged 3-13 years. At Hilden Grange we are dedicated to giving our children a broad and balanced education in a supportive and stimulating environment where every child’s potential can be realised in academic, creative, physical and spiritual areas. Pupils strive for high standards, both inside and outside the classroom, they take pride in their achievements and enjoy participating wholeheartedly in the life of the school.
We are now looking to recruit an inspiring and passionate Art Teacher from September 2026. This is a part time, maternity cover role (three mornings a week) which will involve teaching Art across Key Stage 2 and lower Key Stage 3.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• To teach and manage the Art curriculum throughout the school, including the development and monitoring of LTPs and MTPs within the department
• Contribute to raising standards of attainment by preparing and teaching stimulating lessons of a high standard and according to pupils’ needs
• Follow programmes of study, carrying out necessary assessments, keeping required records and monitoring pupils in accordance with agreed department and school policies
• Facilitate and encourage a learning experience which provides pupils with the opportunity to develop self-esteem and interpersonal skills.
• Review, monitor and evaluate own practice, ensuring that teaching is academically rigorous, innovative and creative and provide feedback to the SLT.
• Contribute to and enrich the extra-curricular programme.
• Prepare children for Art Scholarships to future schools.
• Organise and lead the school’s annual Creative Arts Week, liaising with SLT and EVC.
• Prepare school reports and reports for external agencies as requested by the Head or SLT.
• Keep informed of current developments within the relevant subject curriculum.
• To liaise with the Drama and Music Departments in respect of preparation for productions and to enhance cross- curricular opportunities.
• To lead departmental evaluations and contribute to whole school evaluation and development planning
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
- Teacher qualification together with Qualified Teacher Status
- Experience of teaching pupils in this age range
- An understanding of the public school examination system in respect of Art scholarship examinations
- A confident and competent user of IT
- Good organisational skills
- Good interpersonal skills/effective communicator
- Subject knowledge sufficient to challenge able students and achieve high outcomes
