ROLE SUMMARY:

ACG Tauranga is seeking an outstanding and passionate Secondary Physics Teacher to join our high-performing secondary school. This is an exciting opportunity for an educator who can inspire curiosity, analytical thinking, and a deep understanding of the physical world while helping students achieve excellent academic outcomes.

 

Teaching Physics across Years 7-13, including senior secondary levels, you will deliver engaging, inquiry-based learning experiences that foster scientific literacy, problem-solving skills, and a passion for discovery. You will work collaboratively with colleagues to create innovative learning opportunities and contribute to the ongoing success of our science faculty.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Deliver high-quality Physics lessons that inspire student engagement and achievement.
  • Teach Physics across secondary year levels, including senior Physics courses.
  • Develop and implement engaging, student-centred learning programmes aligned with curriculum requirements.
  • Foster critical thinking, scientific inquiry, experimentation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Assess, monitor, and report on student progress, providing timely and constructive feedback.
  • Create a positive, inclusive, and well-managed classroom environment that supports learning.
  • Incorporate contemporary teaching practices and technology to enhance student outcomes.
  • Contribute to curriculum development and department initiatives.
  • Support students' academic, social, and emotional wellbeing.
  • Participate in co-curricular programmes, camps, excursions, competitions, and wider school activities.
  • Build strong relationships with students, parents, and colleagues to support student success.
  • Will also need to teach General Science from Y7 to Y10.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

  • Proven experience teaching Secondary Physics, with a strong track record of student achievement and academic success.
  • Strong knowledge of secondary Physics curriculum, assessment requirements, and best-practice teaching methodologies.
  • Ability to deliver engaging, innovative, and practical learning experiences that inspire curiosity and scientific thinking.
  • Student-centred approach, committed to achieving positive learning outcomes for all learners.
  • Excellent classroom management, relationship-building, and student wellbeing skills.
  • Ability to use student achievement data to inform teaching practice and drive continuous improvement.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, colleagues, and parents.
  • Well-organised, adaptable, and resilient, with strong time-management skills in a dynamic school environment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous professional growth, innovation, and educational excellence.
  • Passionate about Physics and contributing positively to the wider school community while upholding the values and standards of ACG Schools.


QUALIFICATIONS & ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • A recognised teaching qualification, such as a Bachelor of Education or equivalent.
  • Accreditation with New Zealand Education Council.
  • Prepared to undertake a New Zealand police check prior to commencing the position
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and maintaining New Zealand teaching accreditation.
