ROLE SUMMARY:

The Secondary English Teacher at Reddam House plays a key role in inspiring a love of literature and language, fostering critical thinking, and supporting each student’s academic and personal growth. Our teachers deliver engaging, student-centered lessons in English including Extension courses, and contribute actively to the vibrant educational environment of Reddam House. This is a full time, permanent position based at our senior (Years 10-12) campus in Bondi. Start date - 2027 academic year.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Deliver engaging and high-quality English lessons fostering critical and creative thinking.
- Differentiate teaching and learning programs to meet the diverse needs, abilities, and interests of students.
- Integrate technology effectively to enhance student learning and engagement.
- Design, implement, and evaluate assessment tasks that support student growth and achievement.
- Provide timely, constructive feedback and maintain accurate records of student progress.
- Create a positive, inclusive, and well-managed classroom environment that promotes student wellbeing and success.
- Collaborate with students, families, and colleagues to achieve excellent learning outcomes and support the broader school community.
- Contribute to the English Faculty through curriculum development, professional learning, and engagement with NESA and curriculum updates.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
- Proven experience teaching English, with a strong track record of achieving outstanding student outcomes.
- Strong knowledge of English language, literature, and contemporary pedagogical practices.
- Ability to design and deliver engaging, differentiated learning programs that inspire students.
- Experience using assessment data to inform teaching practice and improve student achievement.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Demonstrated ability to contribute to curriculum development, departmental planning, and resource management.
- Experience supporting school initiatives, co-curricular activities, and broader community engagement.
- Collaborative, organised, and adaptable professional who is committed to student wellbeing, continuous improvement, and the values of Reddam House.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A degree in English, English Literature, or a related field is essential.
- A teaching qualification (e.g., Masters of Secondary Teaching, Bachelor of Education) is required.
- Ongoing professional development in the field of education and English teaching.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- A valid Working with Children Check.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and maintaining NESA accreditation.
- Provide lunch & playground cover.
- A willingness to attend school events outside regular hours as required (e.g., performances, parent-teacher interviews, etc.).
