ROLE SUMMARY:

Due to increasing elective numbers in the subject area and immense success in the Stage 6 course and HSC results of previous years, a Drama Teacher is required to join the Reddam House team in the Middle School.

Responsible for championing Middle School drama at Reddam House through delivering engaging and creative lessons to students in yrs 7-9 and coordinating the Middle School Drama Production, this role encourages the development of students’ confidence, communication, and performance skills through the art of drama. The teacher will contribute to the overall curriculum by fostering a love for the performing arts and providing opportunities for students to participate in performances and other drama-related activities. Whilst predominantly a Drama position, this role will also include teaching some yr 7/8 classes in another subject (either Visual Arts or History, depending on the successful applicant's expertise).
This role supports the school’s mission of holistic education and personal development.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality drama lessons for middle school students, encouraging student creativity, self-expression, and collaboration through various drama techniques
  • Organise and direct drama performances, both in-class and as part of larger school productions or events.
  • Work closely within the Drama dept and middle school colleagues to integrate drama into the broader secondary school curriculum, supporting interdisciplinary learning.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

  • Relevant Teaching & Drama qualification, incl. NESA accreditation 
  • Strong understanding and track record teaching Stage 4&5 Drama, including the ability to teach a range of techniques and genuine enthusiasm for teaching in a Middle School context
  • Additional experience in teaching another subject in Stage 4, ideally Visual Arts or History, and enthusiasm to work across different subject areas
  • Experience directing or organising school performances or productions
  • Creative, dynamic, and energetic, able to engage students in active and imaginative learning experiences.
  • Excellent communication and classroom management skills, with the ability to create a positive learning environment.
