Secondary Teacher - Design & Technology

ROLE SUMMARY:

The Design & Technology / Digital Media Teacher at Reddam House plays a crucial role in guiding students in Stage 4 as part of their educational journey, leveraging extensive experience and expertise to deliver high-quality instruction.

The Design & Technology Teacher is expected to inspire academic excellence, foster intellectual curiosity, and support the holistic development of students. By creating engaging lesson plans, assessing student progress, and contributing to the broader school community, this teacher ensures that students are empowered to achieve their full potential academically, socially, and personally.

This is a 12 month parental leave contract.  Based at Reddam Sydney Woollahra campus commencing Term 1, 2027.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Teach Design & Technology and Digital Media to secondary students in a dynamic, collaborative learning environment.
• Develop and deliver engaging curriculum programs aligned with relevant educational standards.
• Assess, monitor, and report on student progress, providing timely and constructive feedback.
• Foster a positive, inclusive, and well-managed classroom that supports student achievement and wellbeing.
• Create and maintain safe, organised, and engaging learning spaces, including specialist equipment and resources.
• Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and the wider school community to support student success.
• Contribute to curriculum development and continuous improvement of teaching and learning practices.
• Participate in school events, meetings, professional development, and co-curricular activities while maintaining high standards of professionalism and student care.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

• A strong track record in teaching Design & Technology at Stage 4 level, with a strong understanding of NESA curriculum requirements.
• The ability to teach effectively and engage students with diverse learning needs.
• Excellent classroom management skills, with a focus on creating a positive and disciplined learning environment.
• Strong assessment and evaluation skills, with the ability to monitor and report on student progress accurately.
• Experience in organising and supervising school activities and events.
• Proficient in using educational technologies and creative teaching methods to enhance the learning experience.

QUALIFICATIONS

• A recognized teaching qualification, such as a Bachelor of Education (Secondary) or equivalent.
• Accreditation with NESA (New South Wales Education Standards Authority).
• Experience in secondary education, with a proven track record of excellence in teaching

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

• Valid Working with Children Check.
• Ongoing commitment to professional development and maintaining NESA accreditation.
• Willingness to participate in school events and activities outside of regular school hours as required, with a focus on contributing to the school’s leadership and educational initiatives.
