PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
The Early Childhood Educator at Reddam ELS plays a pivotal role in providing exceptional early learning experiences for children aged 1-5 years, with a holistic focus on emotional, social, and cognitive development. In alignment with the Reggio Emilia philosophy, the educator will nurture curiosity, independence, and a love for learning, while forming collaborative relationships with families to foster a community of trust and respect.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist the Room Leader in delivering an engaging, inquiry-based program inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach, catering to the developmental needs of children aged 1-5 years.
- Maintain comprehensive and ongoing documentation of each child’s development, using reflective practices to inform planning and individualised support.
- Conduct observations, assessments, and plan for a small group of children, ensuring their holistic development.
- Curate stimulating and developmentally appropriate indoor and outdoor learning environments that inspire curiosity and creativity.
- Foster meaningful, respectful partnerships with families, providing regular updates and involving them in their child’s learning journey.
- Collaborate with the broader team to promote a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning culture, contributing to team planning and professional growth.
- Ensure a safe and nurturing environment that meets both regulatory requirements and Reddam House’s high standards of care and safety.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- Strong understanding of child-led and inquiry-based learning methodologies, with a commitment to the Reggio Emilia philosophy.
- Experience in early childhood education, with a demonstrated passion for supporting young children’s development.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build collaborative relationships with colleagues, children, and families.
- Adaptability and openness to continuous professional development, staying updated on best practices in early childhood education.
- Ability to contribute to team planning and work collaboratively to create a positive, inclusive environment.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Certificate III, Diploma or Degree in Early Childhood Education and Care, or actively working towards these qualifications.
- Valid Working With Children Check (WWCC) or the ability to obtain one.

- A sound understanding of, or willingness to engage with, the Reggio Emilia philosophy and child-led learning.
- Commitment to reflective practice and ongoing professional development, staying informed of the latest trends and research in early childhood education.
- Willingness to participate in school-wide initiatives and contribute to the continuous improvement of the program and school community
- Valid Working with Children Check.
