We are seeking Swimming Assistant Coach cum Lifeguard to supports the Head Swim Coach and Sports Centre Manager in delivering high-quality swimming instruction and ensuring a safe aquatic environment. The role involves assisting in teaching school swimming classes, supporting the swim team and Kidzone programmes, and guiding students in proper skill development while promoting confidence in the water. In addition, the position is responsible for performing lifeguard duties as assigned, maintaining vigilant supervision, and ensuring the safety of all pool users.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Teach school swimming classes and Kidzone classes as assigned by the Sports Centre Manager.
- Perform lifeguard duties, ensuring the safety of all swimmers and administering lifesaving and/or first aid procedures when necessary.
- Respond promptly to swimmer accidents or emergencies and administer first aid or CPR as required.
- Assist with all team-related activities including swim meets and swim carnivals.
- Maintain accurate records related to swimming accidents, incidents, and assigned duties.
- Keep the swimming area safe, clean, and well-organized.
- Ensure safe use and proper maintenance of all swimming equipment.
- Ensure safety standards are followed during sessions and conduct risk assessments when needed.
- Identify participants’ abilities and encourage them to reach their full potential.
- Plan and deliver sessions appropriate to each swimmer’s level, including clear explanations and demonstrations of swimming techniques.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
- Must maintain valid lifeguard and first aid certifications.
- Strong communication skills to interact effectively with the Head Coach, Sports Centre Manager, parents, and students.
- Enthusiastic and positive attitude toward swimming, supportive teamwork.
- Ability to inspire confidence and motivate swimmers.
- Patience and perseverance.
- Ability to encourage participants, make them feel at ease, and differentiate instruction based on varying needs and abilities.
