ROLE SUMMARY:
Australian International School (AIS) Saigon, a renowned international, co-educational K-13 school in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, has been educating young men and women for more than 16 years. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Use a range of instructional techniques and media consistent with available resources and student needs.
- Develop, deliver, and assess the Japanese language in the Secondary and the IB Diploma Programme.
- Provide a positive learning environment for each student and inspire students to expand their understanding and enjoyment of the subject(s).
- Differentiate instruction to meet the individual needs of each student to be socially and academically successful.
- Organise and lead extra-curricular activities and student engagement in the Japanese language.
- Use a variety of assessment methods to ensure student knowledge and understanding are appropriately recorded.
- Ensure the required standards of classroom management and student behaviour are met.
- Supervise Extended Essay students for the IB Diploma and/or Community Service projects as required.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
- A positive, child-centred individual with excellent communication skills.
- Fluency in Japanese with an excellent command of the language (reading, writing, speaking).
- Qualified teaching certificate/licensure appropriate for grade level and subject area, or certification in Japanese language
- Bachelor’s degree in Japanese and Teaching Certification in Japanese.
- Experience in teaching the International Baccalaureate
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience working with students.
- Solid working knowledge of the concepts, activities, and techniques related to teaching Japanese.
- Well-organised and proficient in school management systems.
- Patient, flexible, and innovative, with a clear comprehension of how students learn.
- Team player, diplomatic, proactive and problem-solver.
