ROLE SUMMARY:
The European International School (EIS), Ho Chi Minh City, is nestled in the vibrant area of Thao Dien, Vietnam. EIS is a boutique, international private school providing the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum to approximately 700 students aged from 3 to 18-years-old. Our spacious campus features expansive green areas and state-of-the-art facilities in a welcoming learning environment. Students, teachers, and parents from over 40 nationalities work together to foster a tranquil, modern village-like atmosphere so our students can thrive at every stage of their education. This position is for a whole of school counsellor responsible for providing counselling services, particularly in the areas of personal, social and emotional competence, for students
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide a safe, confidential counselling environment, Pre School through Grade 12, conducive to students sharing their needs and concerns about academic, emotional and social matters
- Help students process problems, as perceived by them, and plan goals and actions for remediation.
- Respond to and provide support for students in at-risk or crisis situations
- Mediate conflicts as they arise e.g. student/student, student/teacher, student/parent and seek resolution in the best interests of the student.
- Work with teachers and administrators relevant to behaviour management to promote and support intervention strategies and coping skills.
- Contribute to the pastoral Advisory Program in Primary, Middle and High Schools and facilitate specially focused programs regarding school policies as applicable to student and community life.
- Contribute to the formulation and management of procedures in the realm of counselling to ensure correct practice and confidentiality.
- Provide referrals to external support services as needed.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
- Required Qualifications - Certified/Registered teaching/counselling certification.
- Advanced degree in counselling, psychology or equivalent to be able to apply for a work visa in Vietnam
- Minimum of 3 years experience providing a holistic program of developmental, preventive, and intervention services in social/emotional counselling
- Excellent communicator who can make presentations to parents, students and colleagues and has a very good command of written English
- A collaborative team-player used to being an active participant in a group of professionals dedicated to maximizing student achievement and wellbeing
- Realistic, possessed of a good sense of humour, and able to handle stress in an exemplary manner
