ROLE SUMMARY:
Blue Valley School, established in 1989, is a prestigious private bilingual institution catering for students from Pre-K through to 12th grade. With a vibrant community of around 800 learners, the school offers an enriching blend of Costa Rican and International curricula. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop, implement, and continuously enhance a comprehensive pastoral care program that effectively addresses the social, emotional, and developmental needs of secondary school students, ensuring inclusivity and accessibility for all.
- Actively support and guide teachers and other educational staff in cultivating a warm, positive, and respectful school culture where all students feel valued and safe.
- Establish and uphold clear policies and procedures governing student behaviour, wellbeing, and safeguarding, ensuring that all practices comply with school standards and local regulations.
- Collaborate with families and the wider community to promote open communication, fostering strong and supportive relationships that encourage student success and wellbeing.
- Lead initiatives to facilitate student-parent meetings, including pastoral conferences and personalised interventions tailored to addressing individual student needs.
- Regularly monitor student wellbeing indicators, utilising data to assess and improve the effectiveness of pastoral initiatives, thus ensuring the continual advancement of student support strategies.
- Participate in professional development activities to stay current with best practices in pastoral care and student support, while sharing knowledge and expertise with colleagues.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
- A relevant university degree in Psychology or a related field that aligns with student wellbeing and development initiatives.
- Possession of a certified professional qualification in guidance, counselling, or a related area.
- At least 2 years of proven experience in a pastoral or student support role within a secondary school environment.
- Demonstrated leadership and management capabilities, particularly in coordinating student welfare programs or behaviour support systems.
- Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills, with a strong ability to foster positive relationships among students, staff, and families.
