ROLE SUMMARY:

Founded in 1989, Blue Valley is a private, bilingual, Pre-K through 12th-grade school with over 800 students that offers a challenging combination of Costa Rican and International curricula promoting technology, the arts, and physical wellbeing.

We are looking to appoint an IBDP Business & Economics Teacher to join our team at Blue Valley School in San José, Costa Rica. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced and passionate educator who is excited to contribute to an academically ambitious, globally minded, and caring school community.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Deliver engaging and effective Business and Economics lessons aligned with the IB Diploma Programme
Prepare students thoroughly for internal assessments and IB external examinations
Differentiate instruction to support diverse learning needs and styles
Monitor, assess, and report on student progress using IB criteria
Contribute to curriculum development and collaborative planning within the department
Support students’ development of critical thinking, research, and communication skills
Actively participate in school events, meetings, and extracurricular activities
Maintain a strong classroom culture of respect, inclusion, and inquiry
Communicate regularly with students, parents, and colleagues regarding academic progress and wellbeing

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

A relevant degree in Business, Economics, or a related field
A teaching qualification (PGCE, QTS, B.Ed., or equivalent)
At least 2 years of experience teaching Business and/or Economics, preferably in the IB Diploma Programme
A strong understanding of IB philosophy and assessment frameworks
Excellent English communication skills (C1-C2 level)
A collaborative mindset and a commitment to ongoing professional development
A passion for international education and working in a multicultural environment
Strong organizational skills, adaptability, and a proactive attitude
