ROLE SUMMARY:
Founded in 1989, Blue Valley is a private, bilingual, Pre-K through 12th-grade school with over 800 students that offers a challenging combination of Costa Rican and International curricula promoting technology, the arts, and physical wellbeing.
We are looking to appoint an IBDP Business & Economics Teacher to join our team at Blue Valley School in San José, Costa Rica. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced and passionate educator who is excited to contribute to an academically ambitious, globally minded, and caring school community.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Deliver engaging and effective Business and Economics lessons aligned with the IB Diploma Programme
- Prepare students thoroughly for internal assessments and IB external examinations
- Differentiate instruction to support diverse learning needs and styles
- Monitor, assess, and report on student progress using IB criteria
- Contribute to curriculum development and collaborative planning within the department
- Support students’ development of critical thinking, research, and communication skills
- Actively participate in school events, meetings, and extracurricular activities
- Maintain a strong classroom culture of respect, inclusion, and inquiry
- Communicate regularly with students, parents, and colleagues regarding academic progress and wellbeing
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
- A relevant degree in Business, Economics, or a related field
- A teaching qualification (PGCE, QTS, B.Ed., or equivalent)
- At least 2 years of experience teaching Business and/or Economics, preferably in the IB Diploma Programme
- A strong understanding of IB philosophy and assessment frameworks
- Excellent English communication skills (C1-C2 level)
- A collaborative mindset and a commitment to ongoing professional development
- A passion for international education and working in a multicultural environment
- Strong organizational skills, adaptability, and a proactive attitude
