ROLE SUMMARY:
Blue Valley is a prestigious private, bilingual, Pre-K through 12th-grade school with over 900 students. We are seeking an experienced and inspiring IB Psychology Teacher to join our community. The ideal candidate will be a passionate, forward-thinking educator who fosters excellence in teaching and learning, supports student growth, and promotes a culture of high academic expectations and personal development. This hands-on role requires a strong commitment to academic achievement, student wellbeing, and active collaboration with colleagues.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Deliver the IB Psychology curriculum with enthusiasm and expertise, fostering a deep understanding of psychological concepts and inquiry-based learning
- Design and implement engaging lessons that cater to diverse learning needs, encouraging critical thinking and student reflection
- Develop assessments aligned with IB standards, providing timely, meaningful feedback to support student growth
- Create a positive, inclusive classroom environment that supports student wellbeing and academic success
- Mentor and guide students, supporting their personal and academic development
- Collaborate closely with colleagues to integrate psychology learning with the broader IB programme and school initiatives
- Maintain accurate student records, monitor progress, and communicate effectively with parents and school leadership
- Engage actively in ongoing professional development and contribute to the continuous improvement of the IB department
- Participate in extracurricular activities and school events, contributing to the wider school community
- Uphold Blue Valley’s values by demonstrating professionalism, cultural sensitivity, and commitment to student achievement
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
- A degree in Psychology, Education, or a related field, alongside a recognized teaching qualification
- Proven experience teaching IB Psychology, ideally both Standard Level (SL) and Higher Level (HL)
- Comprehensive knowledge of the IB Psychology syllabus, assessment criteria, and learner profile
- A passion for inquiry-led and student-centered pedagogy
- Strong classroom management skills and the ability to motivate students of varying abilities
- Proficiency in English (written and spoken) to effectively deliver the curriculum and communicate within the school community
- Ability to foster positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues
- Commitment to professional growth and collaboration within a dynamic international school environment
- Adaptability and cultural awareness essential to working successfully in a bilingual, international setting
- An innovative and reflective approach to teaching, focused on continuous improvement
