ROLE SUMMARY:

Founded in 1989, Blue Valley is a prestigious private bilingual school serving Pre-K through 12th grade, with over 900 students. We are seeking an experienced and inspiring IB Economics Teacher to join our community. The ideal candidate will be a passionate, forward-thinking educator who fosters excellence in teaching and learning, supports student growth, and promotes a culture of high academic expectations and personal development. This hands-on role requires a strong commitment to academic achievement, student wellbeing, and active collaboration with colleagues.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Deliver the IB Economics curriculum with enthusiasm and expertise, promoting a deep understanding of economic theory, application, and analysis
  • Design and deliver engaging lessons that cater to diverse learning styles, encouraging critical thinking, problem-solving, and real-world connections
  • Develop and administer assessments aligned with IB standards, providing constructive feedback to support student progress
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and wellbeing
  • Guide and mentor students in their academic and personal development within the Economics discipline
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the IB program to integrate interdisciplinary learning and uphold academic excellence
  • Maintain accurate records of student performance and communicate progress effectively with parents and school leadership
  • Participate actively in professional development and contribute to the continuous improvement of the IB Economics department
  • Engage in extracurricular activities and school events, enriching the wider school community
  • Demonstrate professionalism and uphold Blue Valley’s values through cultural sensitivity and dedication to student success

 

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

  • A degree in Economics, Education, or a related field, along with a recognized teaching qualification
  • Proven experience teaching IB Economics
  • Strong knowledge of the IB Economics syllabus, assessment criteria, and learner profile
  • Passion for inquiry-based, student-centered teaching methods
  • Excellent classroom management skills and ability to inspire students with diverse abilities
  • Proficiency in English (written and spoken) for effective curriculum delivery and communication
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and collaborative teamwork in an international school setting
  • Cultural awareness and adaptability essential for a bilingual, multicultural learning environment
  • An innovative and reflective approach to teaching focused on continuous growth and student achievement
