ROLE SUMMARY:
Founded in 1989, Blue Valley is a private, bilingual, Pre-K through 12th-grade school with over 800 students that offers a challenging combination of Costa Rican and International curricula promoting technology, the arts, and physical wellbeing.
We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Academic Deputy for Secondary to join our team in July 2025. In this role, you will support the academic success and holistic development of students in the Secondary School. You will work closely with teachers and school leadership to implement high academic standards, oversee curriculum and instructional practices, monitor student progress, and foster a positive and inclusive learning environment. This is a key position for driving continuous improvement and innovation in teaching and learning across the Secondary division.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Academic Leadership: Develop and implement the school's academic vision in collaboration with the Senior Leadership Team.
- Curriculum Oversight: Supervise the design, development, implementation, and evaluation of academic programs and activities.
- Instructional Improvement: Work with staff to identify instructional needs and develop plans to improve teaching strategies and classroom management.
- Performance Monitoring: Monitor instructional processes to ensure alignment with desired outcomes and establish clear expectations for staff performance.
- Faculty Evaluation: Observe and evaluate faculty performance, providing opportunities for professional growth and improvement.
- Professional Development: Plan and coordinate professional development activities to enhance teaching quality and student learning.
- Stakeholder Communication: Effectively communicate academic targets and student progress to parents and carers, building strong relationships to support academic goals.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
- Degree in education, educational leadership, or a related field.
- Successful teaching experience at the secondary level.
- Proven experience in a school leadership role, demonstrating strong team management and decision-making abilities.
- Experience in curriculum planning, instructional leadership, and academic program development.
- A collaborative and supportive leadership style with a track record of mentoring and developing teaching staff.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, staff, and families.
