ROLE SUMMARY:
Founded in 1989, Blue Valley is a private, bilingual, Pre-K through 12th-grade school with over 800 students that offers a challenging combination of Costa Rican and International curricula promoting technology, the arts, and physical wellbeing.
We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Academic Deputy for Elementary to join our team in July 2025. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting the academic and personal development of students in the Elementary division. You will work closely with teachers and the school leadership team to oversee curriculum implementation, improve instructional practices, and ensure a positive, student-centered learning environment that aligns with the school’s mission and vision.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide academic leadership and support for all teaching staff in the Elementary division.
- Oversee curriculum planning, implementation, and evaluation to ensure alignment with national and international standards.
- Promote instructional excellence through teacher coaching, classroom observations, and ongoing professional development.
- Use student performance data to drive decision-making and continuously improve academic outcomes.
- Support the development of inclusive, engaging, and age-appropriate learning environments.
- Maintain strong communication with families regarding academic programs and student progress.
- Assist in recruitment, mentoring, and performance evaluations of elementary staff.
- Collaborate with the senior leadership team to align strategic goals across the school.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
- Degree in education, educational leadership, or a related field.
- Extensive experience teaching in early years or primary/elementary settings.
- Proven experience in a school leadership or coordination role.
- Deep knowledge of curriculum design, child development, and effective instructional strategies.
- A supportive leadership style with a commitment to building strong relationships with teachers, students, and families.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
