KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging English lessons that develop students' reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills.
- Develop annual, semester, and weekly plans aligned with curriculum requirements, learning objectives, and school standards.
- Create engaging learning experiences that promote language acquisition, communication, critical thinking, and creativity.
- Develop students' grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, reading comprehension, and written communication skills.
- Foster confidence in oral communication through discussions, presentations, debates, and collaborative learning activities.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners and support students at varying levels of English proficiency.
- Assess student learning through a variety of methods, including projects, presentations, written assignments, examinations, and formative assessments.
- Provide timely and constructive feedback that supports student growth and continuous improvement.
- Create a positive, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment that promotes engagement, collaboration, and academic excellence.
- Integrate technology, digital resources, and innovative teaching strategies to enhance student learning and engagement.
- Monitor student wellbeing, progress, and behaviour, communicating proactively with school leadership and families when appropriate.
- Collaborate with colleagues on interdisciplinary projects, curriculum development, and whole-school initiatives.
- Participate actively in school events, extracurricular activities, professional development opportunities, and the wider life of the school.
- Promote and model the values of respect, responsibility, empathy, honesty, citizenship, and lifelong learning.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
- A Bachelor's Degree in English, English Language Teaching, Linguistics, Education, Modern Languages, or a related field.
- A recognised teaching qualification or pedagogical training.
- At least 2 years of teaching experience working with Secondary and/or High School students.
- Native or near-native English proficiency.
- Strong knowledge of English language acquisition, literacy development, and effective instructional practices.
- Experience designing engaging and student-centred learning experiences that support language development.
- Excellent classroom management and relationship-building skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- A collaborative mindset and commitment to continuous professional development.
- Proficiency with educational technology, Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, and digital learning platforms.
- A commitment to safeguarding, student wellbeing, and holistic student development.
