ROLE SUMMARY:
Australian International School (AIS) Saigon, a renowned international, co-educational K-13 school in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, has been educating young men and women for more than 16 years. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The core purpose of this role is to lead to ensure efficient and effective systems are created to support student needs, with the aim to build resilience and personal skills. The SENCO will also promote student success, oversee learning plans and IEPs, and respond to identified student needs by working with the relevant staff to address the personal, social and academic development of students. The SENCO will provide support, guidance and advice to support staff, parents, carers and the school communities, from KG to Year 13 and across AIS. They will observe confidentiality and support the schools in providing excellent teaching and learning for all students’ who require learning support and IEPs.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
- Bachelor of Education in Special Education and Teaching certification in Special Education
- A positive and child-centred individual with excellent communication skills.
- Well organized and versed in school management systems.
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years’ experience working with students with special educational needs.
- Has undertaken training and holds qualifications in aspects of SEN (e.g., dyslexia, autism).
- Patient, flexible and innovative, with a clear comprehension of how students who have difficulty learning new concepts and remembering target concepts might behave.
