ROLE SUMMARY:

 

King's College, Latvia opened its doors in August 2017 and is the first British school in the country. Sitting on a site occupying 20,000 m2 within the Saliena development in Riga, Latvia’s capital city, the school offers the local and surrounding communities the opportunity to benefit from a quality British education, the hallmark of King’s College.

The school educates students from 2-18 years. All year groups consist of 2 or 3 classes creating a highly collaborative environment.

At King’s College our pupils study in the British curriculum which is renowned globally as being the gold star of educational systems. Pupils learn through hands-on practical experiences that aim to enrich the whole child’s growth. The school is authorised to offer the IBDP in Years 12 and 13.

We are looking for a new Spanish teacher with Head of Department for the right candidate. The successful candidate will join an excellent Spanish department, the last 2 years have seen exceptional IGCSE results. Last year one of our students won the Latvian Spanish Olympiad. The school also embraces Spanish culture and even celebrates Carnival as a whole school each year. Spanish is highly valued as a second language in King's College Latvia and is learned throughout Primary and Secondary.

We have a large number of IBDP students who choose Spanish language. 

The school is looking for a teacher with experience of teaching IGCSE and IBDP Spanish.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Set aspirational goals and create lesson plans that inspire, motivate, and challenge every student.
  • Demonstrate a growth mindset, believing in the potential achievement of all students.
  • Adapt teaching based on ongoing assessments to ensure all students make progress.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners, including those with special educational needs and the most able.
  • Promote collaborative learning and support second language acquisition where appropriate.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of their subject, curriculum, and relevant assessment criteria.
  • Plan and teach well-structured lessons using research-based pedagogies.
  • Use formative and summative assessments to track student progress and inform teaching strategies.
  • Establish clear routines to promote respectful, safe, and positive learning environments.
  • Engage in pastoral care, building respectful relationships and supporting students' well-being.
  • Demonstrate professionalism in their conduct, contributing positively to the school’s ethos and community.
  • Actively participate in the wider school life, including events and activities that enhance student development.
