ROLE SUMMARY:

King’s College School, Latvia, part of the prestigious Inspired Education Group, is seeking an exceptional Head of Humanities with the ability to teach both History and Geography, and ideally the flexibility to support other Humanities subjects when needed.

 

This is an exciting opportunity to lead and shape a dynamic Humanities department during a period of growth. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing innovative approaches to teaching and learning, ensuring academic excellence across the faculty, and inspiring students to engage deeply with global perspectives and cultural understanding.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead and manage the Humanities department with strategic vision and operational efficiency.
  • Teach History and Geography across key stages, including IGCSE and IBDP.
  • Support other Humanities subjects when required (e.g., Global Perspectives, Economics).
  • Develop and implement a forward-thinking curriculum aligned with IB and Inspired Education standards.
  • Inspire students’ curiosity and critical thinking through engaging, inclusive, and challenging lessons.
  • Organise and oversee Humanities-related events, competitions, and enrichment activities.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to promote cross-curricular initiatives and interdisciplinary learning opportunities.
  • Manage department resources, including budgeting and teaching materials.
  • Support and line manage Humanities specialists.
  • Uphold the Inspired Teaching Standards in pedagogy, assessment, and classroom management.
  • Actively engage with the wider school community, including participation in events, trips, and extracurricular activities.

 

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

  • A recognised teaching qualification and a degree in History, Geography, or a related discipline.
  • Experience teaching both History and Geography at IGCSE and IBDP (or equivalent advanced level).
  • Proven leadership skills or the ambition and readiness to step into a faculty leadership role.
  • A passion for Humanities education and an innovative approach to curriculum development.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to foster strong relationships with students, colleagues, and parents.
  • A growth mindset and commitment to personal and professional development.
  • Strong classroom management and the ability to inspire high standards of student behaviour and engagement.
