The successful candidate will foster scientific inquiry through safe laboratory practices, utilize data to drive student progress, and actively contribute to whole-school STEM initiatives.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Curriculum Delivery & Pedagogy
Plan and deliver engaging science lessons (Biology, Chemistry, and Physics) to students across Lower Secondary, IGCSE, and A Level.
Adapt teaching styles to meet the requirements of the Cambridge International Curriculum and the Moroccan National Curriculum.
Foster scientific inquiry and ensure the safe, effective delivery of practical laboratory experiments and demonstrations.
2. Extracurricular & Whole-School Impact
Organise and lead STEM clubs, science fairs, or environmental enrichment initiatives.
Assist in the management and maintenance of the science department's laboratory equipment, chemicals, and technical resources safely.
Support the school's ethos by promoting a vibrant academic and scientific culture across both the Moroccan and International sections.
3. Assessment & Reporting
Monitor student progress through regular formative and summative assessments.
Provide detailed feedback to parents and students during parent-teacher consultations and through formal reports.
Note: The responsibilities listed above are illustrative and not exhaustive. Additional responsibilities may be added from time to time depending on organisational requirements.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
Language Skills: Fluency in English is essential. Proficiency in French or Arabic is highly beneficial given the school's trilingual environment.
Scientific Proficiency: Strong competency in managing laboratory environments, adhering to stringent health and safety regulations (e.g., COSHH/CLEAPS), and preparing practical assessments.
Education: A Bachelor's degree in a Science discipline (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Physics) or a closely related field. A PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification is highly desirable.
Experience: Proven experience teaching science in a secondary school setting, ideally specifically delivering content for Lower Secondary, IGCSE, and A Level cohorts.
Curriculum Knowledge: Familiarity with the Cambridge International framework. Understanding of the Moroccan National system is a distinct advantage.
PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES:
Adaptability: The ability to pivot between the foundational learning of Lower Secondary students and the rigorous academic demands of Secondary exam cohorts.
Cultural Intelligence: A respect for and interest in the local Moroccan culture, blended with an international mindset.
Collaborative Spirit: A willingness to work closely with the Science department, laboratory technician, and the wider school community.
