We are excited to be accepting applications for SENDCO. This position will start in September 2025.
The SENDCO is a key leadership role at KGS. The SENDCO will oversee and coordinate the provision of special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) support across our trilingual pathway, encompassing the British Curriculum, the Moroccan Curriculum, and the ELS (Early Learning School) and Primary. The SENDCO will ensure that every student with SEND receives high-quality, individualised support that meets their needs, promotes their well-being, and enables them to achieve their full potential within a diverse, multicultural, and multilingual environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide strategic leadership for Primary and ELS, aligning with the school’s vision.
- Develop and implement action plans to achieve school-wide improvements.
- Represent Primary and ELS in senior leadership decisions.
- Oversee curriculum planning and assessment, integrating British and Moroccan frameworks.
- Ensure teaching quality through evaluation and staff professional development.
- Foster student progress with a balanced, inclusive curriculum.
- Lead and support staff, ensuring collaboration and high teaching standards.
- Promote inclusion and multilingual competence in English, French, and Arabic.
- Build strong parent partnerships through communication and engagement.
- Drive continuous improvement via self-evaluation and innovation.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
- A recognized qualification in Special Educational Needs (SEND) or a related field (e.g., PGCE SEND, Masters in SEND or equivalent).
- Significant experience working in a SENDCO role, ideally within an international school context.
- Strong knowledge of the British National Curriculum, as well as international frameworks for inclusive education.
- Experience of working in a trilingual or multilingual environment is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with students, parents, staff, and external professionals.
- A passion for inclusive education and the belief that all students, regardless of need, can succeed.
Desirable Qualifications and Skills:
- Fluency in English and preferably (French and/or Arabic) to effectively communicate with students, staff, and parents in the trilingual context.
- Experience with educational technology and assistive technologies to support SEND students.
- Knowledge of current international trends and best practices in SEND education.
