ROLE SUMMARY:
Khalil Gibran School Rabat (KGSR) is a vibrant and community-oriented institution offering premium British-style and Moroccan education to both local and expatriate students. Renowned for its progressive pedagogy and holistic educational philosophy, KGSR continues to build a strong reputation as a school committed to excellence, inclusion, and student well-being.
We are currently seeking a Library Assistant to support the effective operation of the school library and to help students develop a love of reading and research. The successful candidate will assist in managing library resources, organizing materials, and ensuring that students and staff have access to a welcoming, well-maintained, and efficiently run library.
The ideal candidate will be organized, approachable, and enthusiastic about promoting literacy and lifelong learning. The post holder will also support students and teachers in locating and using library materials, help plan and host reading or literacy-related activities, and contribute to maintaining an engaging and resource-rich environment that encourages curiosity and independent study.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Support the librarian in organizing and maintaining the library’s collection, including shelving, cataloguing, and updating records.

Assist students and staff in locating books, reference materials, and digital resources, providing guidance on research and information skills.

Promote a welcoming environment by helping create engaging displays, recommending reading materials, and encouraging a love of reading.

Help with library organization, including arranging materials, preparing resources for lessons or events, and managing borrowing/return procedures.

Supervise students while they use the library, ensuring a quiet, respectful, and safe atmosphere.

Monitor and track usage, providing feedback to the librarian on popular titles, resource needs, or areas for improvement.

Collaborate with teaching staff to support class projects, literacy programs, and school-wide reading initiatives.

Encourage students’ independence in research, information literacy, and responsible use of library resources.

Support inclusion by assisting students with different reading levels, language needs, or learning challenges.
