We are excited to be accepting applications for a Director of Careers and University Guidance us in September 2025. The Director of Careers and University Guidance will work across the whole school, implementing an enriching careers education throughout the school, leading to compelling applications to the world’s leading universities and careers.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and implement a strategic vision for careers and future pathways education (ages 3-18), aligned with the school’s ethos.
- Oversee UCAS, USA, and global university application processes with the 6th Form team, ensuring timely submission of applications.
- Lead the Beyond KGS enrichment programme and coordinate cross-curricular career education opportunities for all year groups.
- Organize careers events, such as ‘Managing Your Future’ and University Fairs, for Years 9-12 and liaise with external agencies to enhance career guidance.
- Monitor progress towards university admissions targets and use data to inform planning and improvements.
- Identify and support Oxbridge/Ivy League candidates, guiding them through enrichment programmes and application processes.
- Manage Unifrog, psychometric testing, and university application support, ensuring high-quality submissions and quality assurance of applications.
- Assist Year 11 and Year 9 students in the options process and provide guidance for scholarship programme preparations.
- Lead structured careers guidance, including individual career interviews, university tutorials, and supporting Oxbridge/Ivy League applications.
- Work with SLT and staff to embed careers education across the curriculum and contribute to the strategic development of the Senior School.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
- Relevant degree or equivalent qualification, with a focus on careers education, guidance, or related fields.
- Extensive experience in leading careers education, university guidance, and enrichment programs across a school community.
- Strong knowledge of UCAS, global university application systems, and careers pathways for students aged 3-18.
- Proven experience supporting students in applying to top-tier universities, including Oxbridge and Ivy League schools.
- Expertise in developing and delivering structured career and university guidance programs.
- Experience with career development platforms (e.g., Unifrog) and psychometric testing for student assessment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with staff, parents, external agencies, and universities.
- Ability to implement a strategic vision for careers education that aligns with the school’s ethos and academic goals.
- Competency in using IT and educational technology to support careers education and university applications.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills, with experience planning and executing large-scale events such as university fairs and career workshops.
