All EIS teachers should display motivation, life-long learner attributes, and excellent interpersonal skills as they meet the challenges of educating students from diverse international and host country backgrounds. The classroom environment should be well planned and organized, be stimulating, and engaging, providing high quality instruction and learning, underpinned by the ability to deliver inquiry-based, transdisciplinary units, where applicable, across the three IB programmes.
All teachers need to work collaboratively with others in their section, and across sections, and liaise effectively with the IB Coordinators, in the development implementation and review of the curriculum, assessment and reporting.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The purpose of the Primary teacher is to promote high quality learning in a challenging yet supportive environment which allows all students to flourish. The role of the classroom teacher is to foster a love of learning and encourage a sense of inquiry among our students and deliver and evaluate quality learning programs. The classroom teacher will implement the vision of the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IB PYP).
Key Responsibilities:
- Providing opportunities for high quality learning is at the heart of the role aligned with the IB PYP framework and school mission
- Foster a positive, engaging, and inclusive classroom environment for diverse learners.
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues and IB Coordinators on curriculum and assessment.
- Support each student’s academic, social, and emotional growth through differentiated instruction.
- Communicate regularly and professionally with parents and the school community
- Integrate technology and innovative teaching practices to enhance learning.
- Participate actively in school life, including co-curricular activities and events.
- Undertaking additional duties as required by the Head of Section.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
- Bachelor of Education in Primary and Teaching certification in Primary
- At least 3-year experience in Primary at international schools
- Must be eligible to work within Vietnam
- Excellent organisational skills and a proven record of setting up quality teaching and learning programmes
- Native or near-native level of written and spoken English
- An independent and entrepreneurial self-starter able to work alone and with colleagues across a range of backgrounds
- Excellent communication, teaching and interpersonal skills
- Enthusiastic about working in an international environment
- Has experience of the IB’s Primary Years Programme
- Has experience systematically teaching reading to non-English speaking students
- Has received PYP focused professional development, especially Making the PYP Happen.
