ROLE SUMMARY:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Primary Music Teacher will play a pivotal role in delivering a comprehensive music curriculum that enhances student engagement, creativity, and personal growth. Key responsibilities include:

  • Designing and implementing innovative music lessons that align with the PYP framework, catering to diverse learning styles and abilities.
  • Fostering a supportive and inclusive classroom atmosphere that encourages students to develop self-confidence, musical skills, and a love for the arts.
  • Utilizing a variety of formative and summative assessment strategies to monitor progress, providing clear and constructive feedback tailored to individual learner needs.
  • Collaborating closely with colleagues across the Primary School to ensure curriculum cohesion, interdisciplinary connections, and continuous improvement.
  • Organizing and directing musical ensembles, choirs, orchestras, and school productions, promoting community participation and showcasing student talent.
  • Integrating technology effectively to enrich the learning experience and support differentiated instruction.
  • Engaging parents and guardians through regular communication, reporting, and formal or informal meetings to support student growth and well-being.
  • Maintaining a positive classroom environment by applying the school’s behaviour management policy and prioritizing student welfare and safeguarding.
  • Participating actively in professional development initiatives to stay abreast of contemporary pedagogical techniques and musical education trends.
  • Supporting extracurricular activities, including school house events, Music celebrations, camps, and excursions to enhance student engagement beyond the classroom.
  • Carrying out additional duties as required by the Primary School leadership, contributing to the broader school community and corporate life.

This role demands a proactive, reflective, and collaborative approach, committed to delivering excellence in music education and fostering an environment where every student can thrive.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

  • Bachelor’s degree Music and accompanied by an official teaching certification in Music education.
  • A minimum of three years of demonstrable experience teaching Music,
  • Valid registration or licensing in music teaching, with eligibility to work legally in Vietnam.
  • An understanding of, and experience in the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program would be an advantage but is not required.
  • Applicants must have a demonstrable passion for working with children; to develop their learning skills and social confidence and be willing to work as part of a positive and supportive team to achieve the school’s aims and goals.
