ROLE SUMMARY:
International School of Querétaro (ISQ), an Inspired Education school, was founded in 1999 with a constructivist–humanist pedagogical philosophy. The Paramedic will be responsible for providing first-response medical care, first aid, and preventive and emergency health support to students, teaching staff, and administrative employees at International School of Querétaro (ISQ).
The role will help ensure a safe, protected, and healthy school environment by responding effectively to medical incidents and emergencies, maintaining accurate health records, supporting preventive health and safety measures, and coordinating with families, school leadership, emergency services, and insurance providers when required.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide immediate first aid in the event of accidents, injuries, or sudden illness occurring on school premises.
- Assess and stabilize patients during medical emergencies prior to transfer to an external medical facility when required.
- Coordinate emergency transfers with external ambulance services and immediately notify parents or guardians and school leadership.
- Maintain appropriate inventory levels and monitor expiration dates and correct storage of medications, first-aid supplies, and medical equipment.
- Supervise and maintain emergency first-aid kits located across laboratories, sports areas, workshops, and those used for school trips and excursions.
- Safeguard and administer prescribed medication to students when prior written authorization has been provided by parents or guardians.
- Prepare and maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records for all students, including allergies, chronic conditions, and emergency contact information.
- Maintain a detailed daily log of all medical care and interventions provided by the school health area.
- Design and deliver first-aid and emergency protocol training to teaching and administrative staff.
- Actively participate in the School Civil Protection Committee and support the planning and execution of emergency drills.
- Review the functionality and expiration dates of fire extinguishers.
- Collaborate in identifying potential health and safety risks across school facilities, including playgrounds, sports areas, and laboratories.
- Supervise fumigation activities within the school.
- Manage and follow up on insurance procedures related to accidents, including completing required insurance forms and coordinating with the insurance representative and parents or guardians.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
- A qualification as an Emergency Medical Technician (TUM), a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, or a Bachelor’s Degree in Pre-Hospital Medical Care, with a valid professional license or current certification.
- Ideally, certification in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and/or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
- A minimum of 1–2 years of experience in a similar position, preferably within a school environment, pediatric care, hospital emergency services, or pre-hospital emergency care.
- Patience and empathy, with the ability to support and reassure children and adolescents during stressful or painful situations.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a professional approach when interacting with students, families, and staff.
- The ability to make quick, calm, and structured decisions under pressure during medical emergencies.
- Strong and assertive communication skills, particularly when communicating clearly and calmly with parents or guardians regarding their child’s medical condition.
- Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to maintain accurate medical records, confidentiality, inventories, and documentation.
