ROLE SUMMARY:

Balboa Academy provides a U.S. standards-based curriculum in which English is our language of instruction. Our comprehensive and engaging educational program is dedicated to fostering innovative, intellectual growth. Balboa Academy is located in the City of Knowledge, Ciudad del Saber, Clayton, Panama City, Republic of Panama.  The school is comprised of four air-conditioned buildings, one each for our Pre-school/High School, Elementary School, and Middle School. The fourth building is our Athletics Building which includes our gymnasium, Physical Education facilities, and Dragon’s Den. Additionally, our campus has athletic fields and recreational areas with playground equipment. We have over 80 classrooms and our campus includes media centers, computer labs, science labs, and multipurpose rooms.

 

In addition to our facilities, we also have access to the Kiwanis Sports Complex which includes baseball, football, and soccer fields, tennis courts, an Olympic-sized swimming pool, a gymnasium, an auditorium, and physical fitness areas adjacent to our campus.

 

The Middle School Principal is responsible for overseeing the operation for middle school. This includes classroom instruction, budget management, and working with parents, teachers, and community leaders to provide the best education for students. They also play an integral role in helping teachers to become better educators.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Acts as the primary administrator for the middle school academic program, facilitating the realization of the program goals and objectives.
  • Assist the Director with scheduling; teacher and room assignments.  Develops supervision schedules for staff members within general guidelines established by the company.
  • Participates as a member of the Administrative Team.  
  • Encourages communication and interchange of ideas regarding academic, behavior, and administrative areas.
  • Ensures that staff members comply with deadlines on clerical tasks and scheduled supervision obligations.  
  • Meets with middle school staff on a regular basis. 
  • Implement student discipline policy.  Oversees maintenance of behavior expectations both in and outside the classroom.
  • Assist in the Coordination of student record and grading systems. 
  • Oversees completion of progress reports, report cards and honors to insure they are completed correctly and on time.
  • Coordinate the student testing programs for specific grade levels.
  • Supervise the organization and management of student activities, coordinates all field trips, assemblies, and special programs.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

The Middle School Principal will be a visionary leader who is passionate about education, dedicated to student success, and capable of creating a positive and inclusive school culture where every student can thrive.

  • Master's degree in education, educational leadership, or a related field or previous experience in a leadership role.
  • Two years of teaching experience in a classroom is required.
  • Strong leadership abilities, including the ability to inspire and motivate others, make difficult decisions, and lead change initiatives, are essential for success in this role.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, are necessary for effectively conveying information, collaborating with stakeholders, and representing the school to the community.
  • A deep understanding of curriculum development, instructional strategies, assessment practices, and educational standards is critical for providing effective instructional leadership.
  • The ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with students, parents, teachers, staff, and community members is vital for fostering a supportive and inclusive school culture.
