ROLE SUMMARY:
Balboa Academy is a private school in Panama City, located in the heart of the capital's vibrant community. Offering students two diploma programs (US and Panamanian) and the only school in Panama to provide over 20 courses in their AP Program, our International School in Ciudad del Saber, Clayton is a beacon of educational excellence and a home for lifelong learners.
The High School Principal provides strategic and instructional leadership for Grades 9–12 within an American curriculum framework, including Advanced Placement (AP) programs. The Principal is responsible for ensuring academic excellence, student wellbeing, faculty development, and operational effectiveness. The role requires a visionary leader who can drive high standards of teaching and learning, foster a positive school culture, and prepare students for success in AP examinations and university pathways worldwide.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide strategic leadership to ensure high-quality teaching and learning aligned with U.S. standards and AP program requirements.

Lead the implementation, development, and continuous improvement of the High School curriculum, including Advanced Placement courses.

Oversee student academic progress, using data to drive improvement and ensure strong AP outcomes.

Recruit, develop, supervise, and evaluate high school faculty and staff.

Foster a positive, inclusive, and academically rigorous school culture.

Ensure effective systems for student discipline, attendance, safeguarding, and wellbeing.

Collaborate with the College Counseling team to support university admissions pathways.

Lead accreditation processes and ensure compliance with relevant standards and policies.

Manage the High School budget and resource allocation effectively.

Engage proactively with parents and the wider school community to promote transparency and partnership.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

Master’s degree in Education, Educational Leadership, or related field.

Minimum 5 years of successful high school leadership experience.

Experience leading an American curriculum school with AP programs. (preferred)

Demonstrated track record of improving student achievement and AP results.

Strong instructional leadership and faculty development experience.

Deep understanding of university admissions processes, particularly U.S. pathways.

Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

Commitment to safeguarding and student-centered leadership.

Experience in an international school setting (preferred).
