ROLE SUMMARY:
St. Peter’s International School is seeking an exceptional individual to lead the English curriculum across both the International and National Sections. The successful candidate will demonstrate outstanding leadership, strategic oversight, and the ability to inspire a love of language and literature. This is a unique opportunity to shape and elevate the learning experience for students from Early Years to Year 13, fostering academic excellence and inclusivity.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Curriculum and Instruction:
- Lead and oversee the development of English curricula for Cambridge and Portuguese National programmes.
- Ensure seamless curriculum progression and foster high-quality teaching across sections.
EAL and National Section Oversight:
- Develop strategies to support EAL learners and provide tailored interventions.
- Collaborate to improve outcomes and align teaching practices between National and International Sections.
Assessment and Data Analysis:
- Implement effective assessment strategies and use data to drive improvements.
Department Leadership:
- Manage and develop the English department, setting goals and supporting staff growth.
- Oversee resource allocation across sections.
Library and Literacy:
- Promote literacy development and oversee library operations.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Contribute to policy development and support parent-teacher communication.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
- Expertise in English Language and Literature, including experience with the IB programme.
- Leadership skills to inspire and motivate a diverse team.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organisational abilities.
- Experience supporting EAL learners and implementing tailored interventions.
- A data-driven approach to improving teaching and learning outcomes.
- Passion for fostering a love of reading and literacy development across age groups.
- Familiarity with the Portuguese National Curriculum or a willingness to learn about it.
