ROLE SUMMARY:

St. Peter’s International School, located in Palmela near Lisbon, serves around 1,500 students from 4 months to 18 years on a modern 37,000 m² campus. The school offers a bilingual curriculum (Portuguese/English), Cambridge programmes, and the International Baccalaureate, alongside boarding options for older students. With excellent facilities, small class sizes, and a strong culture of academic excellence, St. Peter’s provides an inspiring environment for both students and teachers.

The Nursery Teaching Assistant plays a vital role in supporting the Lead Teacher in providing a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for our youngest learners. The focus is on fostering the physical, emotional, and social development of children through play-based learning. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist the Lead Teacher in setting up and facilitating daily play-based learning activities.
  • Maintain constant supervision of children during indoor and outdoor play to ensure a safe environment.
  • Assist with essential hygiene routines, including diaper changes, potty training, and hand washing.
  • Help children during snacks and lunch, encouraging healthy eating habits and independence.
  • Support and settle children during scheduled rest periods, ensuring their comfort and safety.
  • Keep the classroom, toys, and equipment clean, organized, and sanitized throughout the day.
  • Strictly follow school health and safety protocols and report any welfare concerns immediately. 

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

  • Education: A relevant qualification in Early Childhood Education or Childcare is highly preferred.
  • Experience: Previous experience working in a nursery, creche, or preschool setting.
  • Language Skills: Fluency in Portuguese is essential; a good communicative level of English is a strong advantage given the school's international curriculum.
  • Soft Skills: Extreme patience, a warm and caring personality, and the ability to multitask in a high-energy environment.
