ROLE SUMMARY:

St. Peter’s International School, located in Palmela near Lisbon, serves around 1,500 students from 4 months to 18 years on a modern 37,000 m² campus. The school offers a bilingual curriculum (Portuguese/English), Cambridge programmes, and the International Baccalaureate, alongside boarding options for older students. The Nursery Teaching Assistant plays a vital role in supporting the Lead Teacher in providing a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for our youngest learners. The focus is on fostering the physical, emotional, and social development of children through play-based learning.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist the Lead Teacher in setting up and facilitating daily play-based learning activities.
Maintain constant supervision of children during indoor and outdoor play to ensure a safe environment.
Assist with essential hygiene routines, including diaper changes, potty training, and hand washing.
Help children during snacks and lunch, encouraging healthy eating habits and independence.
Support and settle children during scheduled rest periods, ensuring their comfort and safety.
Keep the classroom, toys, and equipment clean, organized, and sanitized throughout the day.
Strictly follow school health and safety protocols and report any welfare concerns immediately.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

Education: A relevant qualification in Early Childhood Education or Childcare is highly preferred.
Experience: Previous experience working in a nursery, creche, or preschool setting.
Language Skills: Fluency in Portuguese is essential; a good communicative level of English is a strong advantage given the school's international curriculum.
Soft Skills: Extreme patience, a warm and caring personality, and the ability to multitask in a high-energy environment.
