We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced IB Portuguese A & B Teacher to join our faculty in September 2025. This role is ideal for an educator who is passionate about teaching Portuguese at both native (A) and foreign language (B) levels and who is eager to inspire a love for the language and culture among students.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Deliver engaging and effective Portuguese language instruction in line with the IB Portuguese A and B curricula.
  • Inspire students to develop linguistic proficiency, critical thinking, and a deep appreciation for Portuguese literature and culture.
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality lessons tailored to students with varying levels of fluency.
  • Assess, monitor, and report on student progress, providing timely feedback to students and parents to support their learning journey.
  • Develop differentiated teaching strategies to accommodate diverse learning needs and language proficiencies.
  • Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of the Portuguese curriculum, ensuring innovative and relevant teaching approaches.
  • Support the pastoral life of the school, ensuring students' academic, social, and emotional well-being.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to create interdisciplinary learning experiences, enriching students' overall education.
  • Participate in co-curricular activities, including clubs, cultural events, and enrichment programmes, fostering a well-rounded student experience.
  • Engage in professional development opportunities to continually enhance teaching practices and stay up to date with educational trends.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

 

  • A university degree in Portuguese Language, Literature, or a related subject.
  • Experience teaching IB Portuguese A and B and/or IGCSE Portuguese.
  • Strong subject knowledge and a track record of securing excellent student outcomes.
  • A vision for outstanding teaching and learning in a modern, international school setting.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • An adaptable and reflective teaching style, incorporating feedback and innovation.
  • A commitment to student welfare and holistic education.
  • Proficiency in using ICT in teaching and learning.
  • A continuous improvement mindset, demonstrating enthusiasm for professional growth.
