ROLE SUMMARY:

Opening with Years 7, 8 and 9 initially, the school will grow over the next few years to educate students in Years 7-13.

The school will build on the academic success and heritage of our Wetherby and Pembridge Hall Pre-Prep and Prep Schools. Wetherby Pembridge will provide a premium, academic senior school pathway for students who are looking for an academically excellent, London co-educational senior school.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

We are delighted to welcome applications from outstanding, dynamic and experienced individuals for the role of Piano Teacher, to be in post for September 2026. Working closely with the Founding Head of Music, the successful candidate will play an exciting role in developing an innovative and ambitious Music programme at Wetherby Pembridge.

Key responsibilities include:

General: To teach the highest quality individual music lessons to pupils. To promote musical excellence and enjoyment by demonstrating instrumental skills. To ensure the safeguarding of all pupils in line with the school's safeguarding policy.

Teaching and Pupil Progress: To ensure progress of all pupils by preparing and teaching lessons tailored to each student. To keep detailed records of pupil progress and achievements. To set and communicate specific targets for individual practice each week.

Music Exams: To have a clear knowledge and understanding of the requirements and marking criteria for music exams relevant to your instrument(s). Where applicable, to ensure pupils are well prepared for exams with ABRSM, Rockschool or Trinity exam boards.

Communication: To use departmental systems to communicate pupil progress and concerns with the Head of Music in a timely manner. Where applicable, to communicate with parents regarding pupil progress and concerns.

Wider Department: To direct ensembles and music activities when timetables allow and as requested by the Head of Music. To proactively engage in initiatives to achieve consistency across the music department. To support music events in the calendar wherever possible.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Music.

Experience: Proven success in teaching instrumental lessons to various ages and skill levels. Professional performance experience. Familiarity with different teaching methodologies and techniques.

Musical Proficiency: Professional standard in their main instrument. Ability to teach a wide range of musical genres and styles.

Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues. Clear and concise verbal and written communication. Capacity to inspire and motivate students to develop their musical talents.

Organisational Skills: Strong organisational abilities to manage schedules, lesson plans, and student progress. Capability to adapt teaching methods to meet the individual needs and learning styles of students. Punctuality and reliability in attending lessons and fulfilling professional obligations.

Professionalism: Commitment to maintaining high standards of professionalism and ethics. Willingness to collaborate with other members of the department. Dedication to continuous improvement and lifelong learning in music education.

Flexibility and Adaptability: Flexibility in scheduling lessons to accommodate student availability and school timetables. Capacity to adapt to changing circumstances and tailor instruction accordingly.

Passion for Teaching: Genuine passion for music education and a desire to inspire a love of music in students. Enthusiasm for fostering creativity, expression, and musical exploration. Dedication to a supportive and inclusive learning environment for all students.
