ROLE SUMMARY:
Join a large and thriving music department and play a vital role in fostering the musical, intellectual, social, physical, and emotional development of young learners. This position is responsible for delivering a dynamic music curriculum that aligns with educational standards while nurturing a love for music and promoting a positive learning environment.
The teacher will engage students through a variety of musical activities, utilising creative and effective teaching methods tailored to diverse learning needs. The role supports the school’s mission of providing innovative, holistic, and student-centred education, ensuring that each child reaches their full potential in music and beyond.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ability to lead ensembles and experience teaching HSC/Stage 6 highly desirable
- Develop daily and long-term lesson plans aligned with music curriculum standards and learning objectives.
- Deliver engaging instruction that fosters music appreciation across diverse styles, genres, and cultures.
- Organise and maintain classroom resources, including instruments and audio equipment, to support an effective learning environment.
- Promote positive behavior and discipline to ensure a respectful and focused classroom atmosphere.
- Supervise students during rehearsals, performances, and music-related excursions, ensuring safety and well-being.
- Collaborate with colleagues to integrate music into interdisciplinary projects and broader school initiatives.
- Assess student progress through practical, written, and aural evaluations; provide feedback and prepare reports for stakeholders.
- Support students’ emotional and social development within the context of music learning and performance.
- Participate in staff meetings, assemblies, House meetings, and professional development activities.
- Engage with parents and guardians during open days and parent-teacher evenings to discuss student progress and address concerns.
- Contribute to the school’s music performance program, including ensemble leadership or tuition as required.
- Attend and supervise school events such as concerts, performances, and presentations.
- May be asked to serve as Year Coordinator or assist with pastoral care responsibilities as needed.

- Experienced in teaching secondary school music with strong curriculum knowledge.
- Skilled in delivering lessons across performance, theory, and music appreciation.

- Strong assessment capabilities with accurate monitoring and reporting of student progress.
- Experienced in organising and supervising concerts, performances, and music events.
- Proficient in music education technologies and creative teaching strategies

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor of Music Education or Master of Teaching (Secondary).
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Valid Working with Children Check.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and maintaining NESA accreditation.
- Willingness to assist with lunch/playground supervision and student pick-up/drop-off.
- Availability to attend school events outside regular hours (e.g., performances, interviews).
