ROLE SUMMARY:

Reddam House Sydney seeks a dedicated and passionate PDHPE (Personal Development, Health, and Physical Education) teacher to deliver engaging, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate lessons for students from Kindergarten through Year 6. The ideal candidate will inspire students to lead healthy, active lifestyles and support their physical, social, and emotional well-being. 

The role involves supporting the implementation of the PDHPE curriculum, managing school sports events and teams, and fostering a culture of health, fitness, and teamwork within the school. This position plays a vital role in promoting physical well-being and sportsmanship, aligning with Reddam House’s mission to develop well-rounded students. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Curriculum Delivery: Plan, deliver, and assess engaging PDHPE lessons in line with the New South Wales PDHPE syllabus for K-6
  • Student Engagement: Foster a supportive, inclusive, and active learning environment that encourages participation and personal growth.
  • Physical Education Instruction: Teach fundamental movement skills, sport-specific skills, and fitness concepts tailored to different year levels.
  • Classroom Management: Implement effective classroom management strategies that support a safe and positive learning environment. Assessment and Reporting: Conduct ongoing assessment and provide constructive feedback to students; prepare term reports and communicate effectively with parents.
  • Extracurricular Support: Participate in and contribute to school sporting events, extracurricular sports programs, and whole-school activities.
  • Professional Development: Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in PDHPE and contribute to staff professional learning.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Proven experience in teaching physical education and leading sports programs, ideally in a primary school setting.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple events, teams, and activities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with students, staff, and parents.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities, particularly in coaching and team management.
  • In-depth knowledge of safety regulations and risk management in school sports.
  • Enthusiastic, energetic, and passionate about sports and physical education
  • Ability to inspire and motivate students of all abilities.
  • Strong leadership qualities with a focus on teamwork and community. 
  • A commitment to promoting health, fitness, and personal well-being. 
  • Resilient, flexible, and able to manage competing demands.

 

QUALFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in PDHPE, Physical Education, Sports Science, or equivalent.
  • Relevant teaching qualification (e.g Bachelor of Education).
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Working with Children Check (WWCC) or equivalent clearance

 

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be available to support extracurricular sports activities outside of regular school hours.
  • Willingness to engage in professional development to stay updated with current trends in sports education.
  • Participation in playground supervision, pick-up/drop-off duties, and general student supervision.
  • Willingness to attend school events and activities outside regular hours, including performances, sporting events, and parent-teacher evenings.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and maintaining NESA accreditation.
