ROLE SUMMARY:

The Maintenance Officer at Reddam House is responsible for ensuring the school's buildings, grounds, and equipment are maintained to a high standard, creating a safe, clean, and aesthetically pleasing environment for staff, students, and visitors. The role supports the school's mission by providing general operational support as a whole and overseeing the upkeep of the facilities, liaising with contractors, performing general handyman tasks as well as carrying out a range of function setups to ensure that the campus is a functional and inviting place conducive to an efficient learning environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Grounds Maintenance:
- Liaise with subcontractors to ensure the grounds are well-maintained and address any issues as they arise.
- Carry out line marking for various sports codes as needed, ensuring accuracy and clarity. - Basketball Court
- Ensure that any machinery supplied by Reddam House for groundskeeping is maintained and in good working condition.
Building Maintenance:
- Undertake basic repairs and maintenance tasks for school buildings, including carpentry, plumbing, painting, and general handyman duties.
- Address maintenance, hygiene, and safety concerns. Ensure these issues are logged and resolved promptly.
- Liaise with contractors to maintain the building's plant, fixtures, and fittings, ensuring all work complies with school standards and Australian Building regulations.
School Equipment, Furniture, and Fittings:
- Take responsibility for the maintenance, repair, and safe storage of school equipment, furniture, and fittings.
- Manage deliveries, ensuring that items are received, distributed, and allocated efficiently.
- Ensure the timely relocation of furniture and equipment as requested by school leadership.
Security and Safety:
- Liaise with subcontractors and tradesmen regarding vehicle parking, security, building access, and safety while working on site.
- Identify and report any potential risks to the Principal and ensure that safety systems are implemented effectively.
- Assist with security-related matters, such as, access control, and building safety checks.
Fixed Assets:
- Relocate furniture and equipment within the school as required, ensuring care is taken to avoid damage.
- Report any damage or defects in the school's buildings or assets to the Principal promptly, ensuring timely repairs and maintenance.
General:
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities using the school's facilities management software.
- Complete assigned tasks efficiently and with a focus on health, safety, and hygiene.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- Previous experience in a maintenance, handyman, or groundskeeping role, preferably within an educational setting.
- Strong understanding of health and safety regulations, especially in relation to facilities management and contractor supervision.
- Experience using a range of machinery and tools for gardening, building maintenance, and repairs.
- Familiarity with facilities management software and record-keeping practices.
- Good communication skills and the ability to liaise effectively with contractors and school personnel.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple tasks and priorities efficiently.
