Head of English (Primary)

In 2027, we will expand our student body from 850 to 1100, and in preparation for this exciting growth, we are seeking outstanding educators and staff to join our team in a limited number of newly created positions.

The Head of English (Primary School) is responsible for providing strategic leadership, curriculum oversight, and pedagogical excellence in English across the Primary School.

The role ensures the delivery of an engaging, innovative, and high-quality english program that promotes strong academic outcomes and a positive attitude towards academics. The Head of English supports teachers in implementing best practice teaching and assessment, drives continuous improvement, and fosters a culture of excellence, collaboration, and student achievement.  This is a full time, permanent postion - ideally start term 4.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Lead and continuously improve the Primary English curriculum, ensuring alignment with syllabus requirements and school goals.
• Develop and implement a strategic vision that drives excellence in english teaching and learning across all primary year levels.
• Analyse student achievement data to inform curriculum improvements, interventions, and extension opportunities.
• Ensure consistency in curriculum delivery, assessment, moderation, reporting practices, and academic standards.
• Provide instructional leadership, coaching, mentoring, and professional learning opportunities for teaching staff.
• Maintain a teaching load, modelling exemplary and differentiated english teaching that promotes critical thinking and problem-solving.
• Oversee assessment and student progress processes, supporting meaningful feedback and celebrating achievement in english.
• Foster strong partnerships with parents and the wider school community, promoting mathematics through enrichment programs, events, and whole-school initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS

• A recognised teaching qualification, such as a Bachelor of Education (Primary) or equivalent.
• Accreditation with NESA (New South Wales Education Standards Authority).

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

• A valid Working with Children Check.
• Willingness to participate in ongoing professional development and training as required.
• Provide lunch & playground cover and assist with pick up & drop off duties as required.
• Availability to contribute to extracurricular activities and school events beyond regular teaching hours
