ROLE SUMMARY:

The International School of Monza (ISM), part of the Inspired Education Group, is seeking an experienced and inspirational Primary Years Programme (PYP) Coordinator to join the school’s leadership team from August 2026.

 

This is a key academic leadership role responsible for the strategic leadership, implementation, and ongoing development of the IB Primary Years Programme across the Primary School. The successful candidate will work closely with the Principal, Primary leadership team, and teaching staff to ensure high-quality teaching and learning, strong curriculum coherence, and full alignment with IB standards and practices.

 

The PYP Coordinator will play a central role in fostering an inquiry-based, student-centred learning environment that reflects the IB philosophy and Inspired Education values, while supporting staff development and ensuring excellent outcomes for students.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Programme Leadership

  • Provide strategic leadership of the IB PYP in line with IB philosophy, standards, and practices.
  • Lead curriculum design, review, and implementation across the PYP.
  • Ensure clear curriculum alignment and progression.

 

Teaching and Learning

  • Promote high-quality, inquiry-based teaching and learning.
  • Embed best practice in assessment, concept-driven learning, and transdisciplinary planning.
  • Monitor student progress using assessment data.

 

Staff Development and Collaboration

  • Lead PYP professional learning, mentoring, and coaching.
  • Support collaborative planning and reflective practice.
  • Oversee induction of new staff into the PYP.

 

IB Compliance and Accreditation

  • Act as the main liaison with the IB for PYP matters.
  • Lead IB authorisation and evaluation processes.
  • Ensure policies and documentation meet IB requirements.

 

School Leadership and Community

  • Contribute to Primary and whole-school leadership.
  • Communicate effectively with parents on PYP learning.
  • Promote the IB Learner Profile and Inspired Education ethos.
  • Participate in school initiatives and events.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

Essential

  • Recognised teaching qualification and degree in Primary Education or a related field.
  • Proven experience teaching within the IB Primary Years Programme.
  • Experience in a PYP leadership or coordination role.
  • Strong knowledge of IB standards, practices, and assessment.
  • Ability to lead curriculum development and support professional growth.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organisational, and communication skills.
  • Collaborative, reflective, and student-centred leadership style.
  • Legal right to live and work in Italy (EU passport or valid work permit).

 

Desirable

  • Experience in an international or bilingual school.
  • Involvement in IB evaluation or authorisation processes.
  • Experience with change management or school improvement planning.
  • Italian language skills (an advantage).
  • IB workshop leader and/or IBEN experience.
