ROLE SUMMARY:

St. George’s International School, located in Clarens on the shores of Lake Geneva, Switzerland, is seeking a Geography and Humanities Teacher to join our Senior School. Reporting to the Head of Humanities Faculty, the successful candidate will teach Geography at IB, A Level and/or IGCSE level and contribute to teaching humanities subjects at Key Stage 3.

The role involves delivering engaging, inquiry-based lessons, supporting student progress, and contributing to the wider life of the school through collaboration, pastoral care, and extra-curricular activities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Teach Geography at IB, A Level and/or IGCSE level.

  • Teach a range of humanities subjects at KS3, including geography, history and global perspectives.

  • Deliver engaging, inquiry-based lessons that promote strong learning outcomes.

  • Prepare students for IBDP assessments, including Internal Assessments (IAs) and Extended Essays (EEs).

  • Follow faculty assessment policies and contribute to student reports and feedback.

  • Attend parent-teacher conferences and school meetings as required.

  • Collaborate with colleagues to support curriculum development within the Humanities faculty.

  • Provide class cover when necessary.

  • Act as a positive role model for students and uphold school expectations.

  • Contribute to the school community through tutoring, pastoral support and extra-curricular activities, including leading a club.

  • Work effectively in an international and multicultural environment.

 

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

  • Proven experience teaching IB and/or A Level and IGCSE Geography.

  • Degree in Geography or a related field and a recognised teaching qualification.

  • Strong understanding of IBDP assessment, including Internal Assessments (IAs) and Extended Essays (EEs), and A Level assessment criteria.

  • Ability to teach a range of humanities subjects (e.g. geography, history, global perspectives); ToK teaching is an advantage.

  • Experience leading fieldwork activities safely.

  • Strong classroom management skills and ability to set clear expectations and support student progress.

  • Excellent planning, assessment and feedback skills, with confidence using ICT in teaching.

  • Commitment to student wellbeing, safeguarding and professional development.

  • Experience teaching Senior School students (11–18 years) in an international environment.

  • C2-level English proficiency (or native equivalent).
