ROLE SUMMARY:

Houseparents will be responsible for overseeing the daily operation of the camp's boarding facilities, ensuring that campers have a safe, comfortable, and enjoyable living experience while at camp. Houseparents will worl closely with other boarding staff and other camp staff to ensure that the boarding program aligns with the overall goals and objectives of the camp, and provides a positive and enriching experience for all campers. This position requires strong organizational and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team of staff.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage the day-to-day operation of the camp's boarding facilities, including dormitories, bathrooms, and common areas.
  • Ensure that all campers receive high-quality care and attention.
  • Implement policies and procedures to maintain a safe, secure, and healthy living environment for all campers.
  • Foster positive relationships with campers and fellow staff members through effective communication and teamwork.
  • Manage camper behavior and enforce camp rules and regulations, working closely with the Camp Director and other program heads as needed.
  • Respond promptly and appropriately to any emergencies or incidents involving campers or staff.
  • Develop and implement a schedule of evening programs and activities for campers in the boarding program.
  • Coordinate with other camp staff to integrate boarding programming into other camp activities and events.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

  • Bachelor's degree in education, social work, or a related field.

  • Minimum of three years of experience in a residential camp or similar environment, with demonstrated experience in staff management and program development.

  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire staff and campers.

  • Knowledge of child development and behavior management best practices.

  • Ability to work flexible hours and adapt to changing circumstances as needed.
