ROLE SUMMARY:

St George's International School is seeking to appoint an English Teacher for its Senior School to implement and deliver a broad International Curriculum according to the age, aptitude, and abilities of the students being taught while maintaining the positive ethos and core values of the school, both inside and outside the classroom at all times. Teachers will contribute to constructive team building among teaching and non-teaching staff, parents, and members of the board of directors. We are looking for an exceptional teacher with at least 3+ years of experience teaching the subject to students aged 10-18, who is committed to excellence, continuous improvement, and inspiring and enthusing students.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Demonstrate an international mindset and collaborate effectively in a multilingual and multicultural environment.
  • Exhibit expertise and experience teaching IB English B and IGCSE English as a Second Language, with a preference for candidates experienced in teaching English A and First Language English courses.

  • Commit to raising standards by setting high expectations for students and personal performance.
  • Approach challenges with a proactive, positive, calm, and flexible attitude.

  • Attend parent-teacher/guardian conferences and meetings as required by the school.
  • Write detailed and constructive reports on student progress in alignment with school policies.
  • Participate in team meetings and engage with colleagues to enhance curriculum development and teaching strategies.
  • Cover classes when necessary in the absence of colleagues.
  • Act as a role model for students and represent the school positively, adhering to its dress code and behavioral expectations.
  • Promote a collaborative and supportive working environment, contributing as a dynamic team member.
  • Support students as a tutor and form part of the pastoral fabric of the school. 

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

  • Proven experience teaching IB English B and IGCSE English as a Second Language, with additional experience in English A and First Language English courses preferred.
  • Ability to set clear expectations and ambitious goals, adapting teaching styles based on feedback to ensure optimal student outcomes.
  • In-depth understanding of English language curricula and a track record of delivering engaging, high-quality lessons.
  • Strong assessment skills to evaluate student progress and provide actionable feedback to enhance performance.
  • Excellent preparation and planning skills, with confidence in integrating ICT into teaching.
  • Genuine care and attention to student welfare, ensuring a positive and supportive learning environment.
  • A minimum of a university degree and certified teaching status, with appropriate right-to-work documentation.
  • Previous experience teaching Senior and Middle School students (aged 10-18 years) and confidence in managing diverse classroom dynamics.
  • Unwavering commitment to student development and a passion for fostering a love for English.
  • Dynamic, enthusiastic, and motivating personality with resilience and adaptability to meet the demands of a dynamic teaching role.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and a mindset focused on improvement.
  • C2-level English proficiency (or native equivalent).
