ROLE SUMMARY:

The iPAL Counselor plays a key role in supporting students’ social, emotional, and behavioral development, especially for those within the iPAL Academy. They work with students ensuring that each child’s social-emotional well-being is supported alongside academic growth. The iPAL Counselor implements Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Annual Support Plans with a focus on social and emotional goals, collaborates with parents and teachers, and contributes to creating an inclusive and nurturing learning environment. The iPAL Counselor may also serve as an iPAL Mentor, acting as the primary point of contact for families.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide one-on-one and small group counseling to support students’ social and emotional well-being.
  • Facilitate mediation and conflict resolution session.
  • Implement strategies outlined in the social-emotional elements of Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Support students with self-regulation, coping skills, and confidence building.
  • Conduct observations of students to assess social-emotional progress and needs
  • As iPAL Mentor, provide weekly email updates to parents on student progress.
  • Organize and lead monthly IEP review meetings with parents and relevant staff.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

  • Strong knowledge of child development, counseling, and inclusive education.
  • Ability to support students with diverse needs, including SEN and gifted learners.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • High levels of empathy, patience, and a student-centered approach.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, parents, and external specialists.
