ROLE SUMMARY:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plan and deliver engaging and challenging Literature lessons in English that inspire students and support outstanding academic progress.
- Teach a broad range of literary texts, genres, and authors, developing students' critical thinking, analytical writing, interpretation, and communication skills.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners, ensuring every student is appropriately supported and challenged.
- Assess student learning regularly and provide timely, constructive feedback to promote continuous improvement.
- Prepare students successfully for internal and external assessments, maintaining high academic standards and expectations.
- Create a positive, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment where students feel valued, supported, and confident to take risks in their learning.
- Foster a love of reading and literature through innovative teaching practices and meaningful engagement with texts.
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues to share best practices, support curriculum development, and enhance student outcomes.
- Maintain open and constructive communication with parents and guardians regarding student progress and wellbeing.
- Participate fully in school life, including co-curricular activities, pastoral responsibilities, and ongoing professional development.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
- A degree in Literature, English, Humanities, Education, or a closely related field.
- Experience teaching Literature in English at secondary level.
- Excellent knowledge of literary analysis, critical thinking, academic writing, and literary interpretation.
- A genuine passion for literature and the ability to inspire students through the study of diverse literary texts and traditions.
- Experience preparing students for internal and external assessments and achieving strong academic outcomes.
- Strong assessment skills, with the ability to use data and feedback effectively to improve student performance.
- Excellent classroom management and the ability to create a positive and engaging learning environment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and families.
- A commitment to safeguarding, student wellbeing, and providing high-quality pastoral support.
- Strong organisational skills, a collaborative mindset, and a commitment to continuous professional development.
