ROLE SUMMARY:
We are seeking a highly capable, detail-oriented Payroll Manager to lead payroll operations across Inspired’s schools in Mexico, spanning 6 legal entities or more.
This role will ensure accurate, compliant, and efficient payroll processing and drive standardization, governance, and continuous improvement across multiple entities. The Payroll Manager will serve as a key partner to HR, Finance, and school leadership, supporting a growing, dynamic organization.
This is a critical role within the region, requiring strong technical expertise in Mexican payroll and the ability to operate at both operational and strategic levels in a fast-paced, multi-entity environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Payroll Operations & Compliance
- Oversee end-to-end payroll processing across multiple legal entities in Mexico, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.
- Ensure full compliance with Mexican labor, tax, and social security regulations (IMSS, INFONAVIT, FONACOT, SAT).
- Manage submissions through SUA (IMSS), including hires, terminations, and salary changes.
- Oversee calculation and payment of:
- Payroll taxes
- Social security contributions
- Employee benefits and statutory deductions
- Ensure accurate processing of finiquitos and liquidaciones in line with labor law.
- Establish and standardize payroll processes, controls, and policies across all Mexican entities.
- Ensure consistency in payroll practices, reporting, and compliance across schools.
- Maintain strong internal controls and audit readiness at all times.
- Lead the transition and optimization of payroll systems (e.g., migration from Compact and integration with SuccessFactors).
- Drive automation, efficiency, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure data integrity between payroll, HR, and finance systems.
- Reconcile payroll with the general ledger and support monthly and annual financial close processes.
- Prepare payroll-related reports for Finance and leadership.
- Support audits by providing:
- Payroll reconciliations
- Electronic accounting records
- Trial balances and supporting documentation
- Act as the main point of contact for payroll matters across Mexico.
- Partner closely with HR, Finance, and school leadership.
- Provide guidance on payroll implications of hiring, compensation changes, and terminations.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
- Proven experience in payroll management in Mexico, preferably in a multi-entity or multi-site environment.
- Strong knowledge of:
- IMSS / SUA
- INFONAVIT / FONACOT
- SAT requirements
- Mexican labor law (including terminations and severance)
- Solid accounting knowledge, including payroll-to-GL reconciliation.
- Experience with payroll systems (e.g., Compact or similar) and HRIS integrations (e.g., SuccessFactors).
- Experience managing payroll audits and compliance processes.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills, with close attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a fast-growing, dynamic, and international environment.
- Advanced Excel skills.
- English proficiency (desirable for interaction with global teams)
