ROLE SUMMARY:

With more than 1,800 students, The American Institute of Monterrey (AIM), an Inspired school, currently has 3 campuses in Monterrey’s metropolitan area: 2 campuses in San Pedro and 1 campus in Santa Catarina.

Valle Oriente Campus provides full services from Pre-nursery through 9th grade.
San Pedro Campus provides services from Pre-nursery through 5th grade.
AIM Preparatory School -  offers 6th through 12th grades.

Our spiral and trans-disciplinary curriculum, coupled with a healthy degree of student choice and accountability, pursues that our students develop and attain mastery of the 21st century skills through the development of Authentic Products and Services that have a positive impact in their community.   This Authentic Products and Services are developed during students' specialized Academy classes in Engineering and Technology, Laboratory and Research, Business and Management as well as Arts and Humanities.


The key purpose of this position is to provide the daily support to international students in their academic and language acquisition development. Plays a key role in the integration of EAL / SAL students into the school community and the incorporation of multiculturalism at the school.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Administer Language Diagnostic tools to determine student’s language level upon entry.
  • Provide input in the adoption and implementation of EAL / SAL curriculum.
  • Implement procedures and coordinate the process in making the individual student’s plan including review of student data and testing of students throughout the program.
  • Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity, interest, and abilities of students, and provides both social and emotional support for English as an Additional Language Learners and for Spanish as an Additional Language Learners.
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with the team of homeroom and extra curricular teachers, department coordinator, in regards, to a student’s needs.
  • Employs a variety of instructional techniques and teaching strategies to meet different aptitudes and interests of students, including current technology and whole- group/small-group or individual learning.
  • Guide the learning process toward the achievement of established curriculum goals, establishes and communicates clear objectives to the students for all lessons, units, and projects.
  • Define and implement co-teaching, pull out and push in support programs for EAL students as appropriate, as part of a tiered entry into the regular program.
  • Support other academic areas (math) as part of their entry into the regular program.
  • Monitor student’s social emotional needs in various settings and collaborate with the counselor and department coordinator to provide strategies for the student and teachers to ensure a safe, inviting and accepting environment.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

  • Bachelor degree in Education, Psychology, Pedagogy or related.
  • Experience as homeroom teacher and one to one academic support in Middle & High School grades, preferably teaching English and Spanish languages.
  • Experience in the use and application of innovational educational processes and technology
  • Advanced English
  • Contract period term: June 15th, 2024, for a specific number of hours a week.
